Gaza: On March 19 and 20, 2025, Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip intensified dramatically, with reports confirming that 70 Palestinians were killed in a single day amid an expanding offensive.
The violence increased after the ceasefire fell apart, making an already dangerous situation even worse. Strikes hit many parts of Gaza, especially in the northern area of Beit Lahia and the southern areas of Khan Younis and Rafah, where crowded neighborhoods were heavily damaged.
The attacks have been constant and varied. Israeli fighter jets, artillery, and even a small ground invasion to expand the Netzarim Corridor have been used, destroying many homes and causing significant civilian casualties.
In addition to the air and ground attacks, a missile from Yemen was shot down by Israeli forces, showing that the conflict is growing. Meanwhile, in Israel, a taxi driver reportedly hit protesters in Jerusalem, adding to the rising tensions.
Major international agencies, along with Gaza’s Health Ministry and the Government Media Office, have reported on the situation. The Health Ministry says there have been over 436 deaths till the evening of Wednesday, including 183 children, since the ceasefire ended, while other local sources suggest that many more people may have died, with thousands still missing under the rubble.
This violence is part of the long-running Israeli-Palestinian conflict, which reignited after Hamas-led attacks on October 7, 2023. The current fighting continues that struggle and shows the complex political issues involved. Efforts are now underway, led by France and Saudi Arabia, to restart talks for a two-state solution, highlighting the deep and lasting effects of this conflict.
